Providing large amounts of bright light, floodlights can be a great addition to residential properties to help residents enter their homes safely and avoiding potential hazards, as well as acting as a deterrent to opportunist burglars.

What light colour are residential floodlights?

Because residential floodlights are functional in nature, the light colour is usually white – either cool white, warm white, or daylight toned.

What bulbs do residential floodlights use?

Residential floodlights make use of super-efficient LED bulbs that provide high levels of brightness without dramatically increasing energy bills. LEDs are also ideal for residential floodlights as they have a long life span, which isn’t just more convenient, it is better for the environment too.

How long do residential floodlights last?

Most of our residential floodlights have an average life expectancy of around 40,000 hours, which is approximately four and a half years, if they are used constantly.

What safety rating do residential floodlights need?

Because residential floodlights are designed to be installed outdoors, they tend to have a safety rating of IP65. This means that they are protected against water jets from any angle, and they are dust protected. They are suitable for installation where they may be exposed to the challenges of the UK weather.

Can I get residential floodlights with additional features?

If you don’t need, or want a floodlight to be on constantly, then you might want to consider a floodlight with a PIR or a dusk to dawn sensor. If you’re concerned with security, you might look at floodlights with motion sensors, a camera, or an app.

How are residential floodlights installed?

Our residential floodlights all have full installation instructions with them, but generally you’ll need to be able to fix the light to the intended surface securely, usually with screws or a bracket, and you’ll need to be able to connect the light to the mains power.

Can residential floodlights be installed in areas without mains power?

It can be possible to install floodlights where mains power isn’t available if the space is exposed to the sun throughout the day. Solar floodlights can be a good choice, as the lower power that LEDs require for full brightness means that the solar panel and battery can be as effective as mains powered options. You can see our range of solar floodlights here.
