Astro Taro Fire Rated Adjustable Downlight - Matt White

The fire-rated Astro Taro Single Downlight has a tilting light head that can be angled at up to 35-degrees from vertical. This makes it useful for spotlighting purposes as well as general illumination, but perhaps the more important feature of this stylish white fitting is its fire resistance.

Fire safety regulations always require recessed light fittings to be fire-rated whenever they're fitted beneath occupied floors of a building. This particular model of Astro Taro Single Downlight fulfils this requirement. The intumescent material used in its construction expands when heated to seal the ceiling and prevent the easy spread of flames. This provides crucial time for occupants of upper floors to evacuate.

The Astro Taro Single Downlight has an IP20 (Ingress Protection) rating, which means it is not suited to wet locations. It can be installed into the drier 'zone 3' areas of a bathroom, or in bedrooms, living rooms, kitchens, commercial buildings, healthcare premises and hospitality environments. Please note that this is a Class 1 fitting that requires a connection to electrical earth during installation.

A choice of other models in the Taro range is obtainable from Lyco, including single, double, triple, and quadruple light fittings, including an alternative non-fire-rated single light. All models are available with a brushed aluminium or white finish.

Bulb requirements

The Taro Single Downlight takes a maximum 50W GU10 halogen spotlight (sold separately). The initial cost of a halogen bulb will be minimal, but an LED alternative can save you up to 90% in running costs over original halogen technology and lasts anywhere from 10 to 25 times longer.

The directional nature of LED makes it especially economical as a spotlight, since very little light spills outside of the beam.
