Megaman is arguably the leading brand in energy saving lamps. It is driven by the idea of improving existing incandescent bulbs, and has led the way in trying to find long life, low energy lamps for use where traditional high wattage lamps would be used,.

Most of Megaman's products have an expected life of 10,000 or more thus offering genuinely useful, cost-effect alternatives to filament lamps. They also pioneered Ingenium, a new technology which guarantees a 15,000 hour lamp life on the most compact lamps in the industry.

Naturally, this commitment to more environmentally friendly bulbs has led the company into other 'green' areas. Environmental measures are an intrinsic part of every stage of development, from initial design, research and development right through to its disposal and recycling processes. It has led industry innovation in areas such as cutting down mercury content in lamps, reducing packaging and finding less toxic ways to add a rosting to lamps.

Megaman's manufacturing and recycling plant in Germany employs over 8,000 staff. It has state of the art assembly lines, technical and safety facilities, and also life-test rooms for lamps. There is also a glass recycling factory, a plant for recovering exhaust gas and mercury, and a water treatment plant to treat and recycle used light bulbs. It has been awarded ISO 9001:2000 for quality manufacturing processes and ISO 14001 for environmental management.

Not surprisingly the company has been awarded a host of international awards, such as the Energy Efficiency Recommended Program certified by the Energy Saving Trust in the UK.
