About Magnetic Track Accessories

Every magnetic track lighting system needs more than just the rail and the heads. Our magnetic track accessories collection brings together all the magnetic track lighting parts required to complete an installation, including 48V track lighting drivers, magnetic track light connectors, corner pieces, straight joiners, suspension components, and end caps. All accessories here are compatible with our magnetic track lights range, so you can specify the full system from one place.

Complete Your Installation With Lyco

Of all the magnetic track lighting accessories in a 48V system, the driver is the one that causes the most confusion at the specification stage. The driver is the device that converts the 230V AC mains supply into the 48V DC current the track runs on. Every magnetic track installation requires one, and its wattage rating needs to comfortably exceed the combined wattage of all the heads on the track.

As a working rule, add up the total wattage of your planned fittings and select a 48V LED driver rated at least 20% above that figure. So if your heads total 80W, a 100W driver is the minimum sensible choice. This headroom protects the driver from running at its limits continuously, which extends its lifespan considerably and keeps the system performing consistently over time.

Once the driver is sorted, the magnetic track light connectors are what determine the shape and extent of the installation. Straight joiners extend a run in a single line, allowing multiple track sections to be combined into a longer continuous run.

Magnetic track corner connectors turn the layout at 90 degrees, which is essential for running track around the perimeter of a room or creating an L-shaped installation across a ceiling and down a wall. T-connectors branch a run in three directions for more complex layouts, and flexible connectors accommodate angled joins where the geometry of the space doesn't permit a rigid 90-degree turn.

All magnetic track lighting parts in this range carry the electrical supply through each join, maintaining the 48V DC circuit continuously across the full installation. The same connector types are used regardless of whether the track is surface-mounted, recessed, or suspended, though the specific profile dimensions need to match your chosen track width, so check the product specifications before ordering if you're adding to an existing installation.

End caps seal the open ends of the track, covering the exposed conductors for a clean, safe finish. For suspended installations, cable kits provide the hanging hardware needed to drop the track to the right height below the ceiling.

All orders over £70 qualify for free delivery, with same-day dispatch on the majority of magnetic track lighting accessories held in stock.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I calculate the right size 48V track lighting driver for my installation?

Add up the total wattage of all the magnetic heads you plan to install on the track, then choose a driver rated at a minimum of 20% above that combined figure. For example, eight heads at 10 W each gives a total load of 80 W, so a 100 W driver covers that comfortably.

Drivers are typically available in 60 W, 100 W, 150 W, and 200 W outputs. For larger installations requiring more than 10 metres of track, multiple drivers will be needed, each feeding its own section of the run.

Are magnetic track light connectors different from standard track connectors?

Yes, and the difference matters in practice. Standard mains-voltage track connectors are designed to carry 240V AC through the joint. Magnetic track connectors carry 48V DC and are engineered to match the specific internal dimensions and conductor positions of the magnetic track profile.

They are not interchangeable with 1 or 3 circuit track components, and attempting to mix the two systems will result in a connection that either doesn't work or carries a safety risk. Always use accessories specified for your exact track system and, where possible, from the same manufacturer as the track itself.

Can I run the track around a corner or down a wall with magnetic track corner connectors?

Yes, and this is one of the features that sets magnetic systems apart from standard mains-voltage track. Magnetic track corner connectors allow the run to turn at a 90-degree angle, which means a single continuous installation can travel across a ceiling, turn at the cornice, and run vertically down a wall, all powered from the same driver, all accessible from the same low-voltage track surface.

Does a 48V LED driver need to be accessible after installation?

Ideally, yes. Drivers are electronic components with a finite lifespan, and while a quality 48V LED driver track lighting installation should run reliably for many years, being able to access and replace the driver without major disruption to the ceiling is sensible forward planning. In most surface-mounted or suspended installations, the driver can be housed in a nearby ceiling void, an adjacent cupboard, or behind an access panel.

How many metres of magnetic track can a single driver support?

Most manufacturers specify a maximum run of around 10 metres of track per driver connection point, though the practical limit also depends on the total wattage of the heads installed. A 100W driver on a 10-metre run with lightly loaded, low-wattage heads will perform well.

The same driver running near its wattage limit on a shorter, more densely populated run may experience voltage drop towards the far end of the track, visible as a slight reduction in brightness on the heads furthest from the feed point. For longer runs, two drivers feeding the track from opposite ends is a common and effective solution.
