When Five Guys relocated to a new unit within the bustling Westfield Shopping Centre, they teamed up with the design experts at Blacksheep to bring a fresh, standout look to their space. Lyco was brought on board to deliver innovative, tailor-made lighting solutions that aligned with the new design vision and enhanced the customer experience.

Client’s Goal

 

The brief was clear: Create a distinctive ambiance that complemented Five Guys’ vibrant brand identity, while embracing the latest technologies and maintaining high functionality. This involved a full lighting redesign, focusing on custom colour finishes and the integration of modern, eye-catching fixtures.

Our Solution

 

Lyco collaborated closely with the design team to source and deliver:

  • Custom Track Lighting: Instead of the typical LED panels used front-of-house, we supplied a grid system of track lighting in a bold, specified red RAL colour. This choice brought a modern, industrial feel that elevated the space’s character.
  • Bespoke Pendant Fixtures: Moving beyond the standard red and white pendants, we provided pendants in a sleek brushed steel finish with red and white inner shades. To add warmth and a unique touch to booth seating areas, we also supplied dome-shaped pendants matching this finish.
  • Cutting-Edge Tech: This was the first Five Guys store to feature self-ordering kiosks paired with an illuminated digital menu board, a step forward in enhancing customer interaction and operational efficiency.

 

Challenges 

 

  • Extended Lead Times: The custom pendants had a 4–6 week lead time and were shipped from Ireland, requiring careful project management to ensure timely delivery.
  • Logistical Coordination: Deliveries to the Westfield unit required pre-booked time slots and use of a dedicated vehicle due to site constraints. Our team coordinated closely with the centre management and logistics partners to guarantee smooth, on-time installation.

Results

 

  • The new lighting concept significantly elevated the restaurant’s atmosphere, making it a standout destination within Westfield.
  • The brushed steel and red accents created a modern, cohesive look that aligned perfectly with the Five Guys brand identity.
  • The integration of self-ordering kiosks and illuminated digital menu boards improved customer flow and service speed, setting a new standard for future Five Guys locations.
