When we consider cabinet lighting we might be thinking of under-cabinet lights or inside-cabinet forms of lighting. The former is generally more straightforward because it’s naturally easy to conceal, whereas any lighting places inside a cabinet needs to be placed strategically. A good choice for under-cabinet LED lights is a set of puck lights, which sometimes allow the option of being recessed or surface-mounted. Such solutions are frequently low voltage, so you’d need to string the lights to an LED driver.

An alternative form of under-cabinet illumination would be LED strip lighting, which you can often link together to cater specifically for your needs. A further choice still might be an LED flexi-strip, which is advantageous by its economical use of space.

Ordinarily if you want to place lighting inside a cabinet you’d ideally seek ways to make it unobtrusive, so a prominent face-frame is a useful thing! Careful placing of LED surface-mounted puck lights is one possibility, or again you might use an LED flexi-strip or rope light to discreetly light a cabinet interior.

LED has particular advantages if placed inside a cabinet, especially if the cabinet is an ornamental display cabinet. The inherent lack of heat and UV output in LED makes it a good bet for placing in close proximity to artworks, delicate fabrics or books.

In summary, if you’re looking to light up a cabinet inside or out, LED is often an easy and effective solution!
