In spaces where brightness is key but batten lights are unsuitable, panel lights are a great alternative. They are designed to be installed within suspended grid ceilings, or recessed ceilings, and although panel lights are typically found in commercial settings, they are becoming more popular in homes too, particularly in kitchens and bathrooms. They’re designed to fit within standard sized grid ceilings perfectly – either they are square, or rectangular, to take up one, two, or three grid spaces – and because of this, there’s no need to modify the grid, and they’re easy to install too.

The majority of panel lights are now lit by LEDs, which means that unlike older fluorescent tube lighting, once installed they will last for years without needing replacement – often more than four years, if the light were to be permanently switched on around the clock. This not only reduces maintenance, but because LED lights provide large amounts of brightness, without using excessive electricity, panel lights are a cost-effective lighting solution for home and businesses, allowing for savings on energy bills.

As with batten lighting, panel lights are often installed where individuals may be sensitive to the temperature of the light, which is why you can choose from cool white, daylight, or warm white panel lights, as well as models that are colour changing. These colour changing panel lights are supplied with a remote control, or have an app, allowing users to change the light colour to the temperature that suits their needs best at that moment.

With all types of lighting that is to be installed in a commercial setting, there is an additional need to consider safety. That’s why you’ll find panel lights in our range that include backup batteries so the panel can act as emergency lighting, and IP44 ratings to ensure their suitability for use in spaces that may be exposed to water, or are often damp, such as bathrooms.
