Outdoor Wall Lights

Read more about Outdoor Wall Lights

Our collection of outdoor wall lights is wide-ranging in both style and function. So whether you’re looking for old-fashioned or contemporary, decorational or purely practical, good old British manufacturing or outdoor wall lights featuring the weatherproofing design expertise of the Scandinavians, we have it all!

Suitability for practical needs is always key and our outdoor wall light range aims to fulfill a variety of requirements. Needless to say they'll look good doing it too... obviously!

Movement and Light

Among our collection of outdoor wall lights you’ll find some with PIR sensors and others with Photocell ‘dusk to dawn’ sensors. Sometimes both will be present. PIR sensors essentially detect warmth in a moving object such as an animal or human being, although they can usually be angled to avoid being triggered by creatures such as foxes. Lights with PIR detectors are great for security purposes as well as often being useful in occasional work-areas where you might not need permanent illumination. They can also be useful in illuminating pathways and entrances for purposes of convenience and avoiding accidents.

Photocell sensors can detect ambient light levels and trigger lights to switch on during hours of darkness. At the break of dawn they’ll switch the light off again, hence they’re often known as ‘dusk to dawn’ sensors. They are sometimes used in conjunction with PIR sensors so that users can specify the level of ambient light required before the PIR sensor activates.

Coastal Resistance

Some of our exterior lights, and especially those manufactured in stainless steel, are not recommended for use within 10 miles from the sea. Of those that are ‘coastal resistant’, you’ll find that many are Scandinavian-made. The Scandinavians are revered for their expertise in exterior lighting design, which is informed by the harsher climes that they live in. Rugged and good-looking materials such as galvanised steel and copper are typically used in coastal resistant lights, with an oft-varying finish that makes each product slightly different from the last.
