Weatherproof Fluorescent Lights
Fluorescent lighting in many ways predates incandescent light forms, as its potential first began to be realised in the mid-19th century. But it was a long time in the making, and despite landmark moments along the way fluorescent lights as we know them today didn’t really start to appear until the late 1920s and 1930s.
For outdoor utility lighting purposes weatherproof fluorescent lights are efficient, they’re bright, they’re more energy-efficient than incandescent equivalents, they’re long-lasting, and they’re ideal in situations where lighting is needed for long periods of time. Possible applications might include garage forecourts, car parks and farm buildings.
Hard as nails
Outdoor fluorescent light tubes are built to last; invariably they are constructed with a tough, shatter-resistant polycarbonate body and an acrylic light diffuser. You’ll also find that their Ingress Protection ratings tend to allow for complete protection against dust and jets of water - so you can power-clean the outside of a building without worrying about the light fitting.
Tubular choices
Among the Lyco range you’ll find various options when it comes to choosing an outdoor fluorescent tube, including different ‘T’ (tubular) diameters and lengths, and single or twin-light versions. If you see the more modern T5 tubes among our range you’ll notice that they’re generally more expensive, which reflects their superior lumens-per-watt efficiency, more economical size, and potential for more extra optical accuracy. The T8s, however, have a longer track record as robust outdoor lights and are very much considered lighting ‘workhorses’ favoured by many fitters.
Lyco deliver
As with most of our stock, you can typically expect delivery of an outdoor fluorescent light the very next day, subject to order time. If you need any advice prior to purchase, give us a call! We offer a friendly before-and-after sales service, with diligent and caring attention to detail.
