Candles & Candleholders
A brief diversion: the electric light bulb was invented in Victorian times, and although its invention is commercially linked to the American, Thomas Edison, it was the eventually-knighted Brit, Joseph Swan, that got there first. He had less of a yearning for fame and fortune than Edison, but his was the first house in the world to be lit by his own invention, in around 1880.
It only seems fair.
The old-fashioned incandescent light bulb is now phased out in the EU, that process having been completed in 2012. If we were in sentimental mood we might view a burning filament, just a sliver of glass away, as a link between us and our 19th Century ancestors, who were used to the naked flame and were first introduced to the electric lamp. You might well ask, “Where is this lament leading?” Well, it’s intended to spark some sentiment in you, of course! Never is a light source more beautiful, more calming, more welcoming, than when it is drawn from nature, or when it is inspired by nature. If you run a business that concerns itself with hospitality, consider the possibilities!
Liquid wax candles
When we think of candles we might also think of a wobbly fire hazard that needs constant attention, but this isn’t the case with our selection of liquid wax candles! For a kick-off the flame is covered, and extinguished automatically if knocked over. The liquid wax, also known as lamp oil, burns cleanly and makes for a long-lasting light with a natural flame. So if you own a business and want to pay particular attention to creating moody, intimate ambiance, these lights are the very thing!
If you’re not up for the whole natural flame thing, we do also offer attractive electrical alternatives. These generally are battery-powered candle lights, sometimes rechargeable, which in the case of LED models boast incredible bulb lifespans. They’re inexpensive and look great!
Decorative candle holders
In addition to selling live-flamed candles and more contemporary alternatives, we also offer a range of elegant candle holders. These are the perfect housing for your own candles, traditional or otherwise, and are great for creating extra-special mood.
