Megaman Dimmerable Technology
Megaman Dimmerable Technology allows you to replace your current light bulbs, which is being used on a dimmer, with a low energy replacement and therefore saving you money on energy bills. With these light dimmerable light bulbs there are a few points to note before purchase:
Warm Up
Before trying to dim the light bulb needs at least 2 minutes “warm up” time should be allowed on full power. Once at full brightness smooth dimming between 10-100% of its full brightness can take place.
Dimmer Types
These light bulbs are compatible with most electronic and digital dimmers for incandescent (regular) and halogen light bulbs but may not be suitable for touch or remote controlled dimmers.
Please note: Dimming to 10% of the light output depends on the specification of the dimmer.
Minimum & Maximum loads
Each dimmer will have a minimum and maximum range, for example Min: 60w to Max: 360w, which means incandescent and halogen total wattage should fall between these two values. However, with energy efficient light bulbs they use less energy then standard and therefore reduce both the Min & Max wattage on the dimmer by a factor of 6 on the minimum and 5 on the maximum.
Example:
Minimum: 60w Incandescent & Halogen (60w / 6 = 10w)
10w energy efficient light bulbs
Maximum load: 360w Incandescent & Halogen (360w / 5 = 72w)
72w energy efficient light bulbs
Malfunction or failure of the light bulbs may occur if the total wattage does not fall between the factored dimming wattage (Min: 10w to Max: 72w)
Direct replacements
Designed to directly replace standard lightbulbs, these GLS low energy lamps give you the equivalent of 60w illumination for just 9w of power. You can use these bulbs with conventional dimmer switches - no extra control gear or wiring is required.
Extra long life
As well as costing less to run, these lamps also last up to ten times as long as regular light bulbs, meaning they need changing less often - saving you both time and money on maintenance.
Choice of fittings
These bulbs come in both screw and bayonet fittings, the most common types. The popular warm white colour is suitable for most applications.
