A highly successful multinational, PZ Cussons manufactures top brand soaps, toiletries and household products across Africa, Asia and Europe. While some products do have a global appeal, PZ Cussons focuses on developing products to suit local needs and tastes in specific regional markets. In the UK this clever strategy has led to the immense popularity of household names such as Carex) Imperial Leather, Original Source and Morning Fresh.
The company has a long tradition of soap production as Cussons started manufacturing soap in Britain in 1920 and was acquired by Paterson Zochonis (PZ) plc in 1975. The Cussons range of high quality soaps was extended in 1999 with the launch of Carex. Carex is now one of the leading anti-bacterial handwashes in the UK, thanks to its special formula that kills 99.9% of bacteria yet leaves hands feeling soft and cared for. The strength and success of Cussons' soaps led to the company being renamed PZ Cussons PLC in 2002.
PZ Cussons is always looking to develop innovative new products to meet the needs of consumers. The Carex range (stocked by Lyco) has recently been extended to include antibacterial hand gels, based on those used in hospitals, to keep hands clean and hygienic without the need for water.
