Brasso

This iconic product has been a market leader in metal polishing for over 100 years, In that time, Brasso has changed very little in both composition and package design. Older style Brasso tins are often praised as an example of classic British advertising design, but the real strength of this product lies in its clever formulation that effectively polishes metal surfaces, reducing the appearance of scratches and leaving them with a brilliant shine.

A representative from Reckitt & Sons brought a sample of this liquid metal polish to Britain from Australia in 1905. Marketed as Brasso, this polish gained popularity quickly in England as it was far more user-friendly than the alternative paste style polishes.

Today Reckitt & Sons has become Reckitt Benckiser, the world leader in household cleaning (excluding laundry). Delivering highly effective, great value products like Brasso, Finish, Calgon, Dettol, Vanish and Harpic has made Reckitt Benckiser an incredibly successful global corporation. It sells products in 180 countries to make net revenues that in 2006 exceeded £780 million.

As part of this enormously successful range of products, Brasso continues to go from strength to strength. It has recently been the focus of much interest from a new generation of younger consumers as it is fantastic for cleaning and repairing scratched Ipods, CDs and DVDs.
